Small and often overlooked is a statue of a boy riding a seahorse. It is near the start of the walkway at the harbor in Santa Barbara. A plaque tells viewers that:
BOY ON A SEAHORSE is a gift from the people of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico our Sister City, given in friendship to the people of Santa Barbara. July 29, 1980.
A larger version called The Seahorse is in Puerto Vallarta. The original was lost during a storm in 1976. The statue was important to Puerto Vallarta and was rebuilt in a safer location.
